Why you should road trip along South Africa’s coast.

Our FreshStop road trip with the Goodness Gang Minis have come to end, but that doesn’t mean that we won’t leave you without any further road tripping inspiration. We travelled from Cape Town to East London over 10 days staying in the towns of Caledon, Plett, Jbay, Port Alfred and East London. Our road trip squad.

Travelling with a toddler means that you have to make lots of stops and also find stays perfectly suited to young kids with wide open spaces, outdoor areas to enjoy and if possible, animals ( which are always winners).

Here are the incredible Farm Stays we stayed in along the Way.

1. Chavonnes Farm Cottage, Caledon

Bleeting sheep, dusty farm roads, sunsets behind green hills and a fire place were everything we needed here. This self-catering place is perfect for a family as it has two bedrooms but only one bathroom. Be prepared for picture perfect farm magic.

2. Bella Manga Guest Farm, Plett

This is a natural farm haven for friends and families alike. Choose between a rondavel and a self-catering stay with wooden deck, hammock and other heavenly things. Feed cows in the morning, run with chickens and sip coffee on deck beside a bright bougainvilla. The family who run this farm have fantastic plans for this space, but for now, it’s simple and magical just as it is.

3. Santa Paloma Guest Farm, East London

Eat breakfast whilst watching wildebeest, zebra, horses and cattle wander around on the land before you. There’s a pool for summer and a fireplace in the guest lounge for winter. Kids and adults will truly be in their element here. A game reserve and farm not far from the centre city of East London.

Other favourite FreshStops include:

Port Alfred, Port Elizabeth and George: for their great staff and management.

  • The warmest of welcomes at Port Alfred’s FreshStop.

  • Cheers to great coffee and friendly smiles at the Port Elizabeth FreshStop.

Caledon for the perfect outdoor play area for kids to run around with a diner.

Other highlights included:

Jbay, surfing town with the one of the world’s best right-hand point breaks. As the town geared up for the JBay Winterfest, we got to experience surfers flying in from around the world and preparing for the competition in the waves.

Just because our road trip has ended, doesn’t mean you can’t stop collecting the Goodness Gang Minis. Here’s how:

Every time you spend R30, you’ll receive one sticker; spend R60 to receive two stickers, and so on. Stickers will be issued until 12 November 2017. Simply affix your stickers to this collector card and when you have collected 50 stickers, you’ll be able to take home a Goodness Gang mini toy absolutely FREE!

Our favourite shots of the Goodness Gang Minis taking in the sights along the way are:
