Tricks to Travel on Tight Budget

Most of us enjoy exploring new destinations for various reasons. Be it trying new cuisines, learning the different aspects of different cultures, or generally gaining awareness of diverse places and people. However, one of the most common bumps on the traveling road is money.

It is a deal-breaker that gets in the way of exploring the world. If you are someone who enjoys being on the road, but the state of your wallet gets in the way, do not fret. Here are some tricks to travel on a tight budget.

Walk When You Can

One of the best ways to save money on a trip is ditching the taxis and buses. Walking is a cheaper way to move around your destinations. The best thing about exploring on foot is that you get the chance to experience the people and the beautiful architecture. You will have more of the destination while saving some coins. It is such a richer experience than being in the subways or the back seat of a taxi. Just ensure the area is secure!

Eat Cheap

Just because you are travelling on a tight budget does not mean that you only have to survive on snacks and water. There are cheaper ways to enjoy the local cuisine without spending the big bucks. One of the best ways to do this is to go outside the touristy places. Food in tourist ventures is bound to be expensive. Talk to the locals to get recommendations of places to eat. You can also search online for reviews. Instead of going to formal restaurants, you can go to cafes. They are cheaper than their high-end restaurants. You can also go to the local supermarket and get food and things to snack on that won’t cost too much.

Get Cheaper Parking

When going to a new destination, you’d much rather spend money on cocktails and experiences than spending it on costly parking fees. You can choose to ask a family member or friend to drop you at the airport and save money on airport parking. However, there are times when this option is not the most convenient. In those instances, your best bet is getting a cheaper alternative like parking at the Marriott Suites O’Hare, where you are sure to save on airport parking.

Do Not Take Guided Tours

Tourist guides can be an unnecessary expense. You can opt to browse online for exciting places to visit while on your tour. Another option is to engage the locals who might be willing to show you the area in exchange for tips which will cost you a fraction of what tour guides charge. The locals will take you to places that are not too touristy. We all know that tourist destinations tend to be a little expensive because they are typically in place for tourists to spend money.

Most people cite money as the first thing that holds them back from touring and experiencing new places. But it shouldn’t be. You only need to know some hacks that will make the little that you have last longer.
