It’s no secret that I vape. I prefer vaping or twisping over smoking in every single way. Seriously, smoking is just yuhhhkk. It’s stinky, lingering, and, in my opinion, just completely unattractive.
Smoking cigarettes today is like using a dial up modem from the 90’s to stream Netflix; you can do it, but it’s a horrible experience.
Vaping and e-cigarettes however are the perfect solution for humans that enjoy smoking in this day and age. The pro’s vs con’s list goes something like this:
Pro’s:
- It’s clean,
- smells amazing,
- your wife or girlfriend still wants to kiss you,
- it’s much less harmful to your body,
- tastes PHENOMENAL
- and because there’s no second hand smoke, doesn’t harm anyone else either.
Con’s:
- You have to charge your device as you would a cellphone.
Nevertheless, the reason I wanted to write this article in the first place wasn’t to convince you to start vaping, or even to change from smoking to vaping. The reason I’m writing this is for travellers that already vape.
I think it’s fairly common knowledge at this point that I travel very frequently. Our whole family does. When you have a son that has been on 31 flights before he turned two years old, you can state this with confidence.
It was just before our recent trip to Doha, Qatar (where we swore to finally start packing light, like real travellers) that I started wondering about which of my electronic cigarette devices I would be taking along. The bigger ones such as the Twisp Vega are more bulky and at the end of the day, they do add weight.
Even if that weight is just in your pocket all day long, it can start to feel cumbersome when you’re out and about travelling all day (as opposed to when you’re at home, and at work where you can set your device down to charge on the desk for example.)
So I started wondering which of my devices would be the ultimate travel companion. I needed something with enough power (because I like bigger clouds) but also something that was light enough to remain comfortable throughout the day.
Twisp had actually just launched the Vega Mini and Cue devices just before the trip and I was wondering how they would fare in comparison to my Vega and Ion devices I already had.
I felt the Vega was a bit bulky and a bit heavy, so I was looking at taking the lighter and more elegant Ion device along – but it had become a little underpowered for my “Van Hunks-esque” cloud billowing tastes. And also, the battery is a fair bit smaller and therefore i’d have to charge it more frequently. However, the “pen” shape was the Ion’s most compelling reason for me to consider taking it along.
So I decided to get the Vega Mini and the Cue to test our during the trip. Just reading the specs and trying them out at my local Twisp outlet they already felt like the perfect combo for my travel needs. The Vega Mini seemed like the perfect combination of size and power for travelling and the Cue seemed like the perfect device for having that sneaky, but most importantly ‘undetectable’ puff on the 9 hour flight. If you follow our Facebook page, you’ll remember this video I posted about “how to get away with Vaping on a plane.”
So what was the verdict?
During our 5 day junket to Doha I fell in love with the Vega Mini. The Cue is absolutely wonderful device for people that still enjoy the smoking experience – it worked well in the plane and is feather light. But it was the Vega Mini that stole the show for me.
It’s tiny, yet packed with enough power (up to 60w) to keep any “Vaper” very happy. I used it with a combination of Twisps Smart Tank and my own Aspire Cleito Tank. And they worked like a dream.
A big thank you to Twisp for bringing out a solid range of devices and truly incredible e-liquid flavours, which have both since been updated during the time it took to get this post out, and I look forward to testing out your new range of devices on future travels. But for now – the Vega Mini is my favourite travel companion.
Oh, besides my wife. Oh, and my son.
