Out of all the US states, Michigan certainly tops the list in terms of the sheer diversity of what you can do and see there. From science and art museums to natural parks, zoos, and all the way to historical forts, it lends itself perfectly to a nice family trip or a lovely vacation with your friends.

Not sure where to start? We’ve done all the heavy lifting for you and narrowed down the list to the very best that Michigan can offer:

Check some of the Michigan Casinos

Want to have a wild night partying and playing a few rounds of your favorite games?

There are plenty of casinos in Michigan to choose from that will keep you busy. Examples include:

– Gun Lake: head on over to Wayland where you will find Gun Lake, one of the best casinos in Michigan with bars, restaurants, live entertainment, and, of course, a boatload of casino games. Take your pick from 450 slot machines and 12 table games!

– Firekeepers: with its 2900 slot machines, this is one of the biggest casinos in Michigan by far and wide. As you can imagine, there’s ample space for other classic table games like poker, not to mention world-class restaurants, gift shops, bars, and even a spa.

– Motorcity: this is one of the best casinos in Michigan for luxury accommodation. It also features an innovative entertainment venue and plenty of opportunities for fine dining, and, of course, gambling. Roulette? Check. Blackjack? You got it. On top of it all, there’s also sports betting, lottery games, dice games, and others.

Understandably, this is just scratching the surface. You can find out more here if you’re interested in Michigan casinos. There is also an interactive Michigan casino map that will tell you all there is to know about your chosen gambling establishment or simply help you find the nearest one to your current location.

Experience the German Heritage at Frankenmuth

Are you thinking about traveling to Berlin to experience the German heritage? If you’d like to dip your toes in it first, it might not even be necessary to leave the states. In Michigan, you will find Frankenmuth, a neat little town with German architecture. In addition, there are plenty of attractions to be found.

The buildings you will see here were all designed to honor the Bavarian origins. And it’s not just eye candy; feel free to take a tour of the Frankenmuth Historical Museum or the Frankenmuth Aerial Park. If Christmas is approaching, Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland will be the store to place on your radar.

All in all, a fine place to be if you appreciate hospitality and cultural heritage.

Marvel at Technological Achievements at the Michigan Science Center

If you want to experience how fun science can be, the Michigan Science Center is how you do it. Their friendly and knowledgeable staff will show you all the fascinating scientific concepts that make this world a wonderful place.

While you’re there, the Planetarium is a must-see as it will present our universe in a way that’s bound to leave you flabbergasted. In addition, there are other exhibits that shed some light on related topics such as engineering and health.

The bottom line is, there is something to be found for everyone and the center is a great way to get yourself into science.

Traverse the Isle Royale National Park

Want to experience some of the top nature escapes? Not only is it gorgeous, but it also showcases the millions of years of natural development that went into this place to carve out its beauty over time.

Feel like walking along Lake Superior? Whenever you feel tired, take some time to take in its charms and go for a round of fishing or scuba diving. It’s safe! The only thing you should remember is that there’s a great chance you’ll run into some wildlife, but if you make a point not to disturb it, there’s nothing to worry about.

Don’t Tease the Animals at the Detroit Zoo

They’re cute, and they’re charming, but you should resist the urge to take them into your arms when you visit the Detroit zoo. Still, breathing in some fresh air as you find yourself inches away from some of the planet’s fiercest predators is an experience unlike any other.

The diversity is there for sure – you’ll come face to face with gorillas, bald eagles, and camels to see what their natural environment is like.

See the Fort Mackinac From up Close

The U.S. Army played an important role in shaping the country as we know it today. Without their brave sacrifices, things just wouldn’t be the same, and military museums like Fort Mackinac are how we remember our history’s most nail-biting battles.

Originally, the fort served as a military base; nowadays, it’s one of Michigan’s top attractions. Each one of its 14 units holds something exciting for you to discover as you embark on a trip through history to take in the military complexities and peculiarities of the times gone by.

Conclusion

Whether traveling solo or taking a road trip with your friends, there’s plenty to see and do in Michigan. Wherever the road takes you, don’t forget to send a postcard from your travels!

About Heléne Ramackers

On a recent trip to the bush, I got bitten by the ‘bush-bug’, an absolute life-altering experience. I now long for the expanse of wide open spaces, a pollution-free sky and the roar of a lion lulling me to sleep. When I’m not fantasising about my next leopard sighting, I thrive on taking photographs of my family and love capturing the beauty of sunrises, sunsets, rainbows and the magnificence of the full moon. A wife and doting mother, my city-life day is filled with driving my daughter to her next extramural activity.
