The summer will be on us before long, and many families will plan trips this year. Some have not taken any vacations for several years since the pandemic caused shutdowns and an economic slowdown. In 2023, though, many individuals and families feel they should take a long overdue vacation, and they’re targeting Orlando in particular.
Orlando stands out because it has the ocean right there, and you can also visit the various Disney theme parks or the Universal Studios ones. You can also eat some great ethnic foods, go golfing or fishing, or spend the time shopping. You might even hit the clubs and enjoy some live DJs and the active nightlife scene.
Let’s say that you’re visiting Reunion Resort or one of the other well-regarded ones in the Orlando area. You’re planning the trip, and you’ve already gotten the okay from your boss to take those days off.
You might wonder what you should bring with you when you fly or drive to Orlando. We will discuss that right now.
Sunblock
You will probably want some sunblock. If you’re out in the sun all day, you might burn if you have fair skin. Even if you have a darker complexion, you should still put on sunblock so you protect yourself from skin cancer.
If you drive to Orlando, then you can bring one of the largest sunblock sizes. You should especially do that if you have the whole family with you.
Just keep in mind that if you’re flying, you can’t bring a very large sunblock with you since the TSA agents won’t let you bring a big one on board. You can bring a smaller version, or you can always buy a big one when you get there instead.
Your Swimsuit
You should probably bring your swimsuit as well. Maybe you have not gone swimming in a while, but many of the resorts in Orlando have pools. Some even have waterparks right there on the grounds.
You might also visit one of the Universal Studios or Disney parks, and they have several water attractions. You can also wear your swimsuit and show off your beach body. Maybe you have spent the weeks leading into this trip dieting and getting in great shape.
Sunglasses
You should probably bring some sunglasses too. If you’re walking around Orlando during the summer, you will have some bright sunshine glaring down at you.
You can shade and protect your eyes with some dark glasses. If you bring some nice ones, you can also make a fashion statement.
Small Bills for Tips
You should bring some $1 and $5 bills for tips when you visit an Orlando resort. You will want to tip the bellhops, maids, shuttle drivers, employees who brings you your room service meals, etc.
They will appreciate the money you give them. Since some of them may not make very much at those jobs, they will like the fact that you’re acknowledging their efforts.
One Nice Outfit
You may feel like you’ll wear mostly flip-flops or Hawaiian shirts while you’re on vacation. For the most part, that’s fine.
However, you might bring one nice outfit with you, and you should have your other family members bring one as well. You can get a reservation at one of the high-end restaurants around the city and eat there one night.
Going somewhere with a fancy wine list and cloth napkins can serve as a special treat. If you have kids, and you feel like the oldest one can watch the younger ones for a few hours, you might even have a special date night with your spouse or partner. You two deserve that.
Your Smartphone
You should certainly have your smartphone with you. Nearly everyone has smartphones these days, and yours will likely come in handy during the trip.
If your kids also have smartphones now, you can call or text each other if you split up during the day.
Maybe you’re at the resort lounging by the pool, and your kids have gone to the tennis courts or the video arcade.
If so, you can quickly figure out via your smartphones where and when you will meet up. If you’ve gone to one of the amusement parks, you can also get in touch with your phones if you split off from each other at any point.
If you have all this with you, you should enjoy your Orlando stay.
