Florida is one state that offers almost everything that makes the United States such a beloved country. Not only is it one of the tourist capitals of the world because of its many theme parks and attractions, but it also has cities like Jacksonville that give you a whole new feel. The following places to visit and things to do will make any trip to Jacksonville simply memorable.

Kingsley Plantation

Kingsley plantation is a historic riverfront that offers weekend tours and outbuildings. You can really experience the history of slave quarters and barn in a tasteful manner that is eye opening and educational.

Talbot Island

Talbot island is one of the most scenic places in Jacksonville and has become a staple for engagements and weddings. The sandy beaches and water activities such as surfing, kayaking, and fishing with your favorite spinning reel, also make it a wonderful family friendly destination as well.

Fort Caroline

Jacksonville is also home to a plethora of educational museums such as Fort Caroline. This place commemorates the short lived 16th century French fort along with a scenic trail and museum.

Friendship Fountain

The perfect date spot of Friendship Fountain is located right next to River Park and is just west of Downtown Jacksonville. It is the largest and tallest fountain in the world and is also the cities most recognizable attractions.

Amelia Island

Amelia Island is the perfect place for all your favorite shoreline activities. The park offers horseback riding down the beach, kayak and canoe rentals, and an array of wildlife as well.

Huguenot Memorial Park

Offering some of the best oceanfront campsites in the city, there will never be a dull moment in Huguenot Memorial Park. The seaside park also allows fishing and picnics in the area as well. There are 70 primitive camp sites in the area plus a playground for children to enjoy.

World Golf Village

Florida is known for their world class golf courses, and the World Golf Village showcases this fact with hall of fame memorabilia. This place also offers courses, dining, lodging, and shopping as well.

Thrasher-Horne Center

A wonderful way of saving money and enjoying a night in Jacksonville is by going to the Thrasher Horne Center. You can save on Thrasher-Horne Center Broadway shows as it is a College performing arts center with tickets sold at a fraction of other theater performances. They also offer comedy shows and concerts along with national broadway plays.

Memorial Park

One of the many beautiful parks of Jacksonville is the memorial park, but what makes it stand out is that it’s filled with unique statues designed by Olmsted. The 6 acre park is perfect for long scenic walks with your loved ones.

Tree Hill Nature Center

If you enjoy wildlife and nature, then Tree Hill Nature Center is for you. This place offers safe trails, wildlife, gardens, and natural history museum all in one nature reserve.

Treaty Oak Park

This community park is almost 2 centuries old and is centered on an oak tree with a 25 foot trunk.

Hemming Park

This petite plaza is simple, quiet, and filled with fun stuff to do. It also features 2 fountains, a stage, as well as music and arts events.

Ritz Theatre and Museum

This historic museum rebuilt in 1921 offers concerts and exhibits that documents the beautiful local African American culture. Definitely worth a visit for anyone wanting to experience Jacksonville at its finest.

Adventure Landing

This aquatic complex chain offers additional land attractions such as laser tag, mini-golf, and go-karts. A perfect place for families and couples.

Dutton Island Preserve

Dutton Island Preserve is another nature reserve that offers all things adventurous and outdoors activities.
