Families in search of the perfect vacation destination needn’t look any further than Niagara Falls. Not only is Niagara home to the world-famous falls, it’s also packed to the brim with fun-filled family attractions. While there’s never a bad time of year to make the trek to Niagara Falls, visiting during the summer months will exponentially increase the number of activities at your family’s disposal. Families interested in a summertime trip to Niagara Falls won’t want to miss out on the following attractions.

Fallsview Indoor Water Park

Water parks are synonymous with summertime. With the snow melted and freezing temperatures gone from the forecast, there’s no better time of year to cut loose and enjoy some wet and wild fun. As such, no summertime visitor to Niagara Falls can go home without spending some time at Fallsview Indoor Water Park.

Home to 16 massive slides and an enormous wave pool, Fallsview is Niagara’s premiere water park and one of its most popular family destinations. Lest adults think that Fallsview is exclusively for children, the park also features luxurious indoor hot springs and a sprawling outdoor sundeck. Furthermore, if your family appreciates a little privacy, you’re sure to love the park’s roomy private cabanas. Adding to its convenience, Fallsview Indoor Water Park is located in the vicinity of several affordable hotels in Niagara Falls.

Hornblower Niagara Cruises

When visiting Niagara, you’ll quickly discover that there’s no shortage of ways to experience the majestic falls – with cruises and walking tours being the most popular. Families who prefer the former should book tickets for a Hornblower Niagara Cruise. Lasting about 20 minutes, a Hornblower cruise provides guests with a one-of-a-kind view of Niagara Falls and enables them to admire the falls at an astoundingly close distance. Just be advised that you will get wet, so securing ponchos for you and your crew in advance of the cruise is strongly advised.

Journey Behind the Falls

If a walking tour of Niagara Falls is something your crew wants to experience, Journey Behind the Falls should be right up their alley. As the name suggests, this popular walking tour entails going behind the roaring falls. You’ll start by descending 125 feet via elevator and then make your way through a series of tunnels. At the end of your journey, you’ll have access to up-close observation decks that place you directly behind the falls. Additionally, since guests are guaranteed to get wet, spring and summertime visitors receive free rain ponchos. The complete experience typically entails between 30 and 45 minutes of walking, so make sure everyone in your party is up for a fair amount of physical activity before purchasing tickets.

The Great Canadian Midway

Families who can’t get enough video games will want to pay a visit to The Great Canadian Midway. True to its name, TGCM is packed to the brim with traditional midway games, arcade classics and new-school hits. The Great Canadian Midway is also home to a number of rides and fully interactive attractions, such as the Ghost Blasters Dark Ride and Wild West Coaster. Whether you’re looking for entertainment on a rainy day or simply want to scratch your family’s gaming itch, TGCM has you covered.

Nightmares Fear Factory

Families with an appreciation for all things spooky won’t want to miss out on Nightmares Fear Factory. This famous haunted house provides guests with a horror movie atmosphere, immersive story and world-class scares. If you think you’ve experienced everything haunted houses have to offer, Nightmares Fear Factory is liable to prove you wrong. Making your way through the entire attraction is so harrowing that over 160,000 visitors have chickened out before reaching the end.

If an all-around good time is what your family is after, a visit to Niagara Falls is an absolute must. While this area is widely known as the home of the iconic falls, it has a lot more going on than many travelers realize. In addition to abundant opportunities to witness the majesty of Niagara Falls up-close, families will find a seemingly endless assortment of enjoyable attractions when visiting Niagara. So if you want to provide your crew with first-rate family fun this summer, traveling to Niagara Falls should be high atop your itinerary.
