If you plan on visiting South Africa, then you’re in for a real treat with an assortment of spectacular sights, yummy foods and all kinds of people. Due to our robust diversity we have 11 official languages.
Even though most of us locals would’ve have a clue on how to converse in Sesotho, Zulu or Tswana, I’ve started a language podcast to get locals and travellers going. Here you can learn basic words and phrases in some of our country’s languages that may be helpful in certain cities and towns. Whilst English is widely spoken and understood in our bigger cities, you may find yourself in a small town or village where a few words in the local’s mother tongue will go a long way.
