This post was written in collaboration with Inspirock, they are a company that help you plan your vacations and have an amazing Greece itinerary planner should you be looking to head to there.

Considered the very birthplace of modern civilisation accompanied by endless beauty within its vistas and in its hospitable culture, Greece truly is any traveller’s dream. If you are looking to indulge in some truly exceptional cuisine, experience ancient history or relax on a gorgeous beach, Grece offers plenty to see on its distinctive islands.

Santorini

A trip to Greece is incomplete without a stop at the island of Santorini. This volcanic island is a haven steeped in plenty of history and has exquisite views. Start with a simple walk through the tiered streets for a look at local life and picturesque Greek homes. Visit the numerous gorgeous beaches and relax in the sunshine, or take a hike to gaze across the caldera at one of the most beautiful vistas the world has to offer.

Akrotiri is a popular archaeological site promising history lovers a look at life during the Minoan era. Before you leave you must sample the exemplary cuisine the island is known for whether it is gyros or some delicious seafood, with a glass of wine while surrounded by sparkling waters and a gorgeous sunset. Finish your trip with a stroll through the cobble-stoned streets where there is plenty to shop for, ranging from clothes and jewellery to even fun souvenirs.

Parthenon

Synonymous with Greek visit, the Parthenon is an ancient temple set atop the acropolis. It is located in Athens and ancient Greeks built it in honour of the Goddess Athena. It has inspired plenty of architecture across the world and one need only pay this resplendent structure a visit to see exactly why.
Set within the heart of present day Athens, it reminds all who gaze upon exactly why Greece is considered the birthplace of European culture and modern civilisation. It is not the only building placed upon the acropolis with the Propylaia, the Erechtheion and the temple of Athena Nike also based here.

Mykonos

Another idyllic little Greek island that has gained popularity amongst tourists is Mykonos. Greece offers something for the variety of tourists that flock to it each year, whether it is religion, relaxation, shopping or some high-adrenaline fun. The Panagia Paraportiani church is bound to be one of the most unusual ones you visit with its rock-like appearance.

If you seek some culture then either a stroll through the picturesque streets or a visit to any one of the several museums will do the trick. There is the Aegean Maritime Museum which displays plenty of the island’s nautical history or even the Mykonos Folklore Museum which gives visitors a taste of local culture and its past as well. There are plenty of bars and clubs to keep you happy through your entire trip and one can even sail around the island on some eclectic cruises.

Meteora

This locale is straight from the pages of a fairytale as it is a collection of monasteries that sits suspended above the rest of the world atop rock pillars. Home to monks for thousands of years, this world heritage site is not the most accessible of spots but is well worth the trip.
These monasteries continue to be used till date and are adorned with exquisite painting dating back centuries. Visitors can take in the gorgeous panoramas and even explore the ancient caves located nearby.

Ancient Olympia

No visit to Greece is complete without a trip to the city where Olympians competed in the past and where the present Olympic torch is lit. Sadly, this site was ravaged by Emperor Theodosius II and several following earthquakes leaving only some of the ruins in a decent condition.
It still proved to be an exciting arena with several temples dedicated to the Gods standing and plenty of areas where athletes would have waited to compete, lie under these shady trees offering insight into the thrilling past.
