Parthenon
Synonymous with Greek visit, the Parthenon is an ancient temple set atop the acropolis. It is located in Athens and ancient Greeks built it in honour of the Goddess Athena. It has inspired plenty of architecture across the world and one need only pay this resplendent structure a visit to see exactly why.
Set within the heart of present day Athens, it reminds all who gaze upon exactly why Greece is considered the birthplace of European culture and modern civilisation. It is not the only building placed upon the acropolis with the Propylaia, the Erechtheion and the temple of Athena Nike also based here.

These monasteries continue to be used till date and are adorned with exquisite painting dating back centuries. Visitors can take in the gorgeous panoramas and even explore the ancient caves located nearby.

Ancient Olympia
No visit to Greece is complete without a trip to the city where Olympians competed in the past and where the present Olympic torch is lit. Sadly, this site was ravaged by Emperor Theodosius II and several following earthquakes leaving only some of the ruins in a decent condition.
It still proved to be an exciting arena with several temples dedicated to the Gods standing and plenty of areas where athletes would have waited to compete, lie under these shady trees offering insight into the thrilling past.
