Photoblog: An island interior, Koh Samui.

If you visit Koh Samui and don’t venture into its mountainous interior, you would have only seen a third of the island and its beauty. Away from the beaches, so much of its true charm lies amongst the coconut palms, tropical orchids and flowering shrubs covering its steep hills and lush, green valleys. Bougainvillea, bright Golden Trumpets, Hibiscus and purple Sky Vines dot the dense foliage. Many people hire jeeps and go on safari tours up along the gravel roads, but we have had way more fun venturing into the unknown on a scooter. The view of Angthong National Park and nearby islands on a clear day make the trek up each hill worth it. You may even find the giant, gold statue of Buddha soaring into the sky and a ‘secret’ garden of statues built by a fruit farmer…
