How we used Avios points to redeem flights with Kulula.com

For all of us travellers, there is some exciting news on the kulula.com front when it comes to booking flights. The Best Low Fare Carrier Middle East/Africa for 2015, 2016 and 2017 kulula.com (as recognised by AirlineRatings.com), has announced an exciting new development in its partnership with Avios, the global travel rewards currency, enabling kulula fans the opportunity to fly for less at the click of a button.

This September 2017, we will be flying to Johannesburg with kulula.com before taking an onward international journey. For the first time we were able to convert our Avios points and redeem domestic flights for the three of us.

Kalula.com fans who have joined Avios can collect Avios at a rate of three Avios for every R10 spent on kulula flights convert their Avios to Travelbank credit for kulula.com flights. Fans will be able to redeem in increments of a 1000 Avios, equal to R60 in Travelbank credit, which can be used on any flight, including airport taxes.

So here’s how we went about converting Avios into Travelbank credit in order to redeem on all kulula.com flights.
Step 1 – Visit the kulula.com homepage and click on “convert Avios”
Step 2 – Log into Travelbank with your kulula ID details (if you don’t have a kulula ID you will have to quickly create one)
Step 3 –  Log into Avios with your Avios log-in details
Step 4 – Convert your Avios to Travelbank

According to Shaun Pozyn, Head of Marketing, Customer Experience and loyalty for kulula, “if fans don’t have enough Avios to cover the entire airfare, they will be able to use a combination of Avios and cash to pay for their flights. The partnership gives our fans more value for their money and rewards them for choosing to fly with us.”

To ensure a smoother, quicker conversion process to book kulula flights, fans are encouraged to create a kulula ID. By inserting their Avios membership number into their kulula ID, they will never miss out on collecting Avios. Fans with an existing kulula ID can simply add their Avios membership number to their current profile.

Needless to say we are so excited that we could use our Avios points to redeem flights and in September we will be on board on Kalula from Cape Town to Joburg. Look out for updates on our journey.

For more information on how to collect and use Avios for flights visit kulula.com or alternatively to sign up to the Avios Travel Rewards Programme visit www.avios.com.
