How to perfectly pack your luggage, everytime!

Packing may seem simple but one slip up will leave you without that item you so desperately need while on vacation! The problem is that airline companies seem to be charging more than ever for carry-on luggage leaving travellers scrambling to fit everything into one small suitcase. Not to mention the hefty fees you have to pay if your luggage is over the weight limit!

But there is a better solution than sitting on your desperately suitcase trying to cram everything in. Packing a suitcase is a lot like playing tetris and with a few good pieces of advice, you too can clear the board! Here’s our mini guide filled with tips on how you can pack your luggage perfectly for your next vacation.

  1. Use packing cubes

If you’ve never heard of packing cubes you don’t know what you’re missing out on! Packing cubes are small, differently sized cubes and rectangles that you use to pack your belongings in. Their rectangular shape makes packing a breeze and they help keep all your travel essentials organized. Their compact shape helps to free up room in your luggage and this is especially useful if you’re only bringing a small or medium sized bag.

If you’re looking for affordably priced packing cubes, try a retailer like AliExpress. They offer tons of variety in packing cubes, including different colors and cube sizes. Through the AliExpress discount code featured here, you can even enjoy a nice discount on your next purchase! More savings means more money to spend on your next trip.

  1. Fill in all available spaces

The best way to ensure that you get everything into your luggage is to use every available space, and we mean every available space! Try some of these tips to maximize the space available in your luggage:

  • Stuff your socks into your shoes to free up room
  • Try rolling rather than stacking your clothing.
  • Lay your shoes heel to toe at the bottom of your bag or suitcase
  • Choose travel size beauty products rather than their full-size counterparts
  1. Remember the rule of threes

When it comes to packing shoes you should always keep in mind the “rule of threes”. That means that you should never pack more than 3 pairs of shoes:

  • One sandal or slipper
  • One comfortable shoe
  • One formal shoe for dining out

Remember to always wear your bulkiest pair of shoes on the plane to free up the remaining room in your luggage!

  1. Never unpack your toiletries

One of the easiest ways to pack your toiletries is to never unpack them in the first place. Purchase a small toiletry bag and keep it packed with all your travel necessities so that it’s always ready to go whenever you need it. Not only will this save time but packing your toiletry bag when you’re not in a rush means you won’t forget any items. Remember to choose a toiletry bag that’s transparent as sometimes that’s required for security purposes at the airport. Choosing a bag that’s waterproof will also prevent any nasty spills from ruining your vacation!

  1. Delete your digital travel clutter

While everyone thinks about unpacking their suitcase after a long trip, what about your digital clutter? Organization expert Maria Kondo suggests being as ruthless with your digital travel memories as you are with what you pack! That means scrupulously deleting any photos that you don’t really like so that you free up digital storage space to store new memories. Make sure you declutter your digital devices before your next trip so that you have all that available space ready to document your adventures!

  1. Save space for new stuff

Lastly, if you don’t want to find yourself with an overstuffed bag, make sure you leave some extra room for any new things you want to buy while on your trip. There’s nothing worse than trying to pack for your trip home only to find nothing in your suitcase will fit! As a general rule, try and leave 10% of your bag empty for shopping and memorabilia.
