Brilliant times in Benidorm

Written by Allison Turner.

Benidorm is a playground for adults that refuse to grow up. It makes a great place for a couple’s first holiday together in the sun. Bustling, busy and bold, there’s everything from theme parks to karaoke bars to beaches to castles. Here are ten things to do together for the ultimate Benidorm experience.

1) Ride the roller-coasters of love

Scream if you want to go faster at Benidorm’s Terra Mitica Theme Park, which is divided into 5 theme zones and includes the Titanide – a roller-coaster with seven tummy-turning loops.

2) Swim with a sea-lion

Animal lovers (and those wanting to expose their sensitive side) should check out Mundomar Animal Park, where the stars of the show are the adorably affectionate sea-lions.

3) Sail away, sail away, sail away

Take a glass-bottomed catamaran to Benidorm Island for the ultimate romantic day trip. Peer through the glass at the marine life, or stay up top and recreate the Kate and Leo Titanic moment when no one’s watching.

4) Get wet and wild

Sick of lounging by the pool? Visit Aqualandia Waterpark for flumes, water slides and rapids.

5) Go back to nature

Make like Tarzan and Jane and explore the beautiful Parque Natural Sierra Helada within walking distance from the centre of Benidorm.

6) Shop till you drop

Splurge on the delicious local oil and cheese and beautiful handmade lace. There are also recognisable high street fashion stores for if you want some serious retail therapy, like Zara and Mango.

7) Dance the night away

Experience Benidorm night life at its most vibrant at one of the resort’s fantastic cabaret venues. Benidorm Palace has everything from flamenco to can-can dancers, burlesque performers, comedians and a whole lot more – a great night out.

8) Enjoy a candle-lit dinner for two

Relax in the evening with a romantic meal at Duetto Italian Restaurant, where you can share a delicious pizza (or order one each!).

9) Sip a cocktail (or three)

Visit Amigos, Benidorm’s legendary restaurant, for the finest cocktails in town.

10) Run with a bull

There in July? Don’t miss the unforgettable Toros a la Mer festival, which sees locals (and a handful of very brave tourists) being chased by bulls through the small coastal town of Denia.

Get the most out of Benidorm by embracing your cheesy side and ticking as many of these top 10 off the list as you can. There’s a reason why so many holiday-makers keep going back – discover it for yourselves at one of Spain’s ultimate good-time holiday destinations.
