About Café, Koh Samui.

Located in the quaint street opposite Soi 4 in Maenam, we stumbled upon About Café in one of our many exploring missions and immediately we knew there was something different about this Café.

About Café is filled to the brim with character, from its striking red post box to its chalkboard menu and photo-filled walls and the Coca-Cola collection on display it really just entices you in to see more – and more there is – postcards, a curio-shop and books too. The smell of coffee beans freshly ground hung in the air and we knew at once we were “home.”

Koy, the owner, barrister and chef is one of the most wonderful people we have had the pleasure of meeting in all Thailand. She takes an interest in all her customers and those that keep coming back are remembered and their pictures eventually land up on her wall of memories. The breakfast, lunches and light meals we have enjoyed here are some of the best on the island, all quality, all well-made and extremely satisfying. The coffee is out of the top-drawer and the atmosphere is fantastic. I have recommended About Café to so many friends and family and they all have the same things to say.

My favourite: fantastic imported coffee, great Wi-Fi, brilliant service, great food, good atmosphere, loads of character and a post-service so that you can write home while you enjoy your meal / drinks and leave the card with Koy. Also, this is one place we have found that has considerably less mosquitoes than the rest; I actually can’t remember being bitten here at all.

Things that could be improved: It would be nice if there was an air-conditioner but a complete revamp would be needed to achieve this so maybe one or two more roving fans customers can switch on would go down well on hot days. Most of the year its fine though.
